I've won as MCA Deputy President

Tonight is a memorable night for me as I've won as MCA Deputy President. I sincerely thank all my supporters for their enormous support.

With all party members' support and cooperation, we now need to re-unite and reform the party. All elected leaders must work hand in hand to fulfill their promises to party members as well as the rakyat.

Once again, I thank all central delegates for their votes.

The Ban by MCMC towards NTV7’s Live Telecast of the MCA Deputy Presidential Debate

The decision by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to ban the live telecast of the MCA deputy presidential debate over NTV7 last night has come as a great shock.

One would have thought that following the recent debates on television involving no less a figure as Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that there would be no issue of allowing last night's debate to be televised.

Even Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's debate with Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon was televised live.

Malaysians have shown they are receptive to this new political culture.

A new level of maturity had arrived in which political rivals can debate issues in a sober and competitive fashion.

There is no reason why the debate involving MCA candidates should not be allowed.

There seems to be black hands at work behind the scene.

By banning the live telecast, MCMC has robbed Malaysians and not just Chinese Malaysians, of an opportunity to get to know what candidates for a senior post of a major political party stand for.

It would have offered Malaysians a glimpse at how these candidates perform, and listen to what they have to offer.

Crucially, delegates to this weekend's MCA elections would have had a chance to listen to the candidates before deciding on who they should vote for.

I call on the MCMC to allow the debate to be shown without any further adue.

The MCMC must also give an answer as to why they have banned the live telecast of the debate.

Abdullah’s mid-2010 transition plan scuttled - can he salvage his premiership when the writing is on the wall?

  1. kopitiam99 Says:

    Yb,

Say what you may….. flip-flop PM, Sleeping PM, etc etc…. In all fairness, I feel Pak Lah left a legacy to us as the Most Democratic PM we ever have…..

He is the FATHER OF DEMOCRACY .

If you bloggers could use your thinking cap and revert to Mahathir era, do you think we can behave the way we are behaving now ?
All of us would either end up in ISA, missing in action, ACA harassment etc etc…..

Pak Lah,, you have done your best eventhough it not to the expectation of the rakyat….. So my humble request to you is after your enforce retirement….. relax lah and proceed to the warong warong with your families and grand child to have a cool kopi kau kau …. chi piu …. with nasi lemak lah. ….

Please don’t expect your Minister to join you…. call us…. we shall be there…..

FATHER OR DEMOCRATIC REFORMS

Abdullah and Koh wave to delegates at the Gerakan conference today.

Remember folks?
I have mentioned earlier that Pak Lah should be named 'Father of Democracy" ..... I think Tan Sri Dr. Koh is reading my blog and seem to agreed to my observation and analysis of the political situation in Malaysia...... just as I alway say, kopi kau kau chi piu.....

By Shannon Teoh

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has been dubbed the “Father of Democratic Reforms” by Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.

In his opening speech this morning at Gerakan’s national delegates conference, Koh said that “as the Prime Minister, Abdullah has initiated reforms for good governance and promoted commitment to integrity. As an advocate for democracy, he has opened up more space for expression to Malaysians.”

At a press conference later, he added that under Abdullah’s administration, the country had seen the “rise of new media and even the printed press have run a lot of reports that have exposed the shortcomings of the government” and said that this was his legacy as prime minister.

Koh also said that while Abdullah was committed to fighting corruption and uplifting the standards of living of the poor, more reforms were required.

He called on Abdullah's designated successor Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to "continue with the reforms in government started by Abdullah".

The former Penang chief minister said that after the huge mandate given to Gerakan and Barisan Nasional in 2004, "the implementation of such reforms has been delayed and some reforms were even derailed."

He claimed that the people are unhappy with the lack of efficiency and integrity in the government's delivery system, the disparity between the rich and poor, and statements and gestures by some politicians that were racist and extreme leading to "a wave of anti-BN sentiments, resulting in the worst results ever suffered by the BN in the March 8 general election.

As such, he called for detainees under the Internal Security Act not involved in terrorism to be released and for the Act to be replaced with legislation specifically on terrorism.

"Recent arrests under the Internal Security Act have convinced the public that the ISA is open to abuse. It has become a liability to the government," he insisted.

During the press conference, Koh said that the issue of the party's position in BN was not yet closed.

"We are still thinking about how to reform the party. As far as the central leadership is concerned, we will work with Abdullah and Najib.

"Abdullah has promised to reform so we are with him. As you can see, the response to him during his speech was more positive," he said when quizzed on his recent statement that a majority of the grassroots wanted to leave BN.

Koh was also asked if its current impetus to recruit more non-Chinese members meant that the party was not interested in doing so in the past.

He clarified that previously "we did not have a programme to reach out and publicise. We welcomed them if they wanted to join but we did not go out and actively recruit them."

Koh also said that as part of the process of "opening the doors wider", the party is considering the establishment of "cyber branches" which would be "borderless."

He said that it would require the constitution to be amended as currently it required members to register with branches that were in specific geographic locations.

"So Malaysians in the US or Europe can be members of a branch which will have its own organisation. The chairman can be from Penang and the secretary from Bangkok and they will communicate via the Internet."

AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MONGOLIA!

At least zorro understand me...... I feel that they are putting their live and freedom at risk with their articles.... anyway we have to salute them for their bravery.....

Zorro,

Sorry if my comment spoils your mood,
I was just trying to emphasis that in doing what you are doing, you might be 'invited' first to the police station for a cuppa of coffee... if needs be..... ISA.. who knows.... They can cooked up any excuses just to get you out of their way.

We are now under the mercy of the police and we have to be careful... My concern for all of you.... brave bloggers are genuine

My apology again......

This are the kind of news to be highlighted in newspapers. All news media are strongly controlled by policicians. This asshole is fit to be on the electric chair. Just imagine the party choosing him for PM post, just a bunch of idots and ball carriers.

AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MONGOLIA!

Zorro is rather unhappy with my comment, I have in fact showing my concern to all fellows bloggers by spreading news ..... which the police could ask him or others to their office for a cuppa of coffee.... Anyway to my hero Zorro, please don't feel offended... sorry lah..... It least I am brave to convey my apologies ... better than Ahmad Ismail....

Zorro,

My humble opinion is that you are over anxious in your fight against the govt.

This is suppose to be 'Court Material' .... to be use against them and no chance for them to cover up their folly....

With your interesting articles.. whether true or not..... this give them a chance to cover up.

With our RPK nicely nested under ISA... don't be surprised that you are next ISA-in-waiting....

Think and think what can you achieve for revealing this article?
Does it serve any purposes? We as readers are normally hungry for this type of news... then we speculate and talk till midnight . Can this help to bring the downfall of Najis?
Can this help RPK in his coming trial....? If this can help then you are inadvertently spoiling the whole case.

It better sometime to ponder with your friends over a cuppa of coffee before you write any comment.. as I normally like .. kopi kau kau chi pui
